In Use Since documents well-made objects that have remained useful beyond the moment in which they were produced.
01
A working collection
The collection brings together mechanical watches, cameras, fountain pens, bicycles and other examples of industrial design. Objects are selected for the clarity of their purpose, the quality of their construction and their capacity to be maintained.
This is not an archive of untouched things. Wear, repair and replacement parts are recorded as evidence of an object’s working life.
02
How objects are documented
Each entry separates observation from attribution. Maker, model, materials, dimensions, condition and provenance are recorded where they can be supported. Uncertainty is stated rather than disguised.
Editorial stories provide context: how an object works, why its design matters and what responsible restoration should preserve.
03
Availability
Some objects remain in the private collection. Others may be offered for sale when they no longer belong to the direction of the archive. Availability never changes the standard of documentation.
In Use Since is based in Lugano, Switzerland.
